I am so fortunate to be able to teach. I have the most amazing students and I get to share the topic of design with people who are truly invested, interested, and in love with the subject as much as I am. This past semester I had a great class who needed to know it, so I made them each a ‘you rock’ rock. I know, I know, incredibly cheesy, but I thought I would share since it could also be used the other way around and given as a cute teacher gift, or thank you favour.

I found a bunch of rocks on a walk (or if you are short on time, buy a bag at the dollar store). Then using, you guessed it, the Silhouette I printed multiple “you rock” sayings in different typeface. I have attached the silhouette file here if you are just interested in using my pairings.

I printed the the words and peeled away the negative space. I then used transfer paper to move the delicate text to the rocks.

And that’s it. Add a quick coat of modge-podge to make sure they last and they are ready to gift. I also made small business card sized tags to give with each rock. Download that art work here. I will pretend like I wanted the ‘rustic’ print look, but the reality is that my printer is just running out of black ink.
